Mirza Yahyá had never lifted a finger to protect the Faith of which he was supposed to be the nominal head. Now, incited and aided by Siyyid Muhammad and a few, very few, others of the same nature, Mirza Yahyá began a secret campaign to discredit Bahá’u’lláh. He circulated wild rumors, ascribed to Bahá'u'lláh actions, opinions, views and intentions totally at variance with truth.
